Week 5 Favorites

Miss Hannah is five weeks old today!  Here are some of my favorite photos from the week.  Stay tuned for more this weekend - we will be heading to our first track meet, making her first trip to church, and attempting to dye Easter eggs!

A flare for the dramatic

Our girl seems to have a little flare for the dramatic - who knew waking up from a nap could be so difficult!

Play time

Tuesday was a big day of firsts for Miss Hannah.  She turned 1 month old.  She had her first successful bath (we had "successfully" bathed her before in the sense that she was clean at the end, but not without lots of red-faced screaming).  And she had some fun play time swatting at her toys!

Here's our girl on her play mat:

Look who's one month old!

Our girl is one month old today!  I can't believe it's already been a month...and yet it's impossible to imagine our life without her!  She's gotten so big already - thanks aunt Annie for the super cute 3 month outfit that already fits :)

Hey Hannah, how old are you? That's right, one month!

This is her "Mom, please" face.

"I can put my headband on myself Mom!"  Not really, but someday...

We're cute and we know it.

Hannah's many faces

Even though she can't talk, and she doesn't really have control of her limbs, and she's just learning to follow things with her eyes, Hannah still loves to express herself.  These pictures are all from about 20 minutes this morning.  The translations, of course, are mine :)

Angry! Or hungry! Or need a clean diaper!
I'm sleepy, but I'm not not sleepy, but I think I'm sleepy.
Working on a pouty face.
Peace out.  Time for a nap.
Smiling in her sleep - a glimpse of real smiles to come :)
Big yaaaawn.

The princess and the puppy

I'll admit it - I was super nervous about how our first baby would respond to another baby in the house.  Because Leonidas is definitely our baby.  Our vet told us not to worry, said that dogs are pack animals, and our dog would recognize our baby as a new member of the pack.  Thankfully, he was totally right.

Leonidas has been so great.  He is very protective of Hannah, gentle around her, and doesn't seem to mind when she accidentally smacks him in the face.  I think his only complaint is probably that she didn't come with a volume button - the poor guy is exhausted from keeping watch over her when she wakes up at night crying!

The true test

This week was our first true test of parenthood - my family (along with all of their delicious home cooking, dog walking, cleaning, and laundry help) left on Sunday, and Alex and I were left to fend for ourselves.

This included a trip to to the pediatrician for her two week check up.  This appointment is critical because at two weeks, babies should have regained their birth weight as a sign that they are getting enough to eat.

Our girl passed with flying colors - she blew past her birth weight of 8 lbs 14 oz, and came in at 9 lbs 14 oz and 22 inches.  If you're thinking, "wow, that sounds big", you are correct.  This puts Hannah at the 90th percentile for weight and 94th for height.  Mom and Dad are so proud :)

This also means she has officially outgrown newborn PJs.  She still fits in the onesies and pants, but newborn footie pajamas are a thing of the past.
