The in between times, part 1

In between the formal photo ops, the rest of our life happens, and thanks the wonders of smart phones, we can capture every fun, messy, ridiculous moment.  It was tough to sort through the hundreds of pictures from the past few months and find favorites - so many great times to choose from!  But here are a few that show what we've been up to...

The winter months were all about baking...rainbow cookies (sugar cookies with food dye and sprinkles) were a favorite.

Strawberry picking!

It's strawberry time again!  This is one of my favorite spring activities - the adventure of taking the ferry across the river, having fun picking the berries, and enjoying the delicious fresh strawberry ice cream.  So good.

Last year, Hannah did a great job picking, but ate surprisingly few, choosing instead to smash them in her hands and on her clothes and in her hair.  This year, it was all about the snacking.  We probably should have paid for an extra quart, given how many berries she ate along the way.

Sarah was there too, but sadly I don't have any pictures of her...she was asleep in her carrier and together we were a hot, sweaty mess.  Next year it will be your turn, sweet girl.

Sarah is three months old!

Every month just keeps getting better and better.  At three months, Sarah smiles all the time, and she talks.  A lot.  Especially at night...it's like after a long day of hearing Hannah talk, Sarah can finally have her say.  And the laughs!  I love making this little bean laugh.  Baby giggles are some of the best sounds, and she's got a sweet giggle.  Love you Sarah bear!

A very happy Easter indeed

I love everything about Easter - the promise of salvation and new life in our Lord, seeing all the kiddos dressed up at church, hunting and dying eggs, and the beautiful spring weather.  This year was especially fun for me because Hannah was super excited about hunting eggs and Sarah was finally here to I got to dress them in their matching outfits!

Oh hello pretty.  Just wait - next year you can race your sister for the eggs.  She will probably win, but we'll save some for you :)

Sarah is two months old!

Two months old and already the smiliest, happiest little girl!  We love seeing Sarah's little personality emerge more and more every day.  She's still a great sleeper, which is great for the rest of us, and still likes the Moby wrap, which means lots of snuggle time for me :)  She's also smiling a lot and her little gummy smily makes me the happiest!

She did great at her two month check up, braving her shots like a champ.  She weighed in at 13 lbs 10 oz (99 percentile), 24 inches long (97 percentile), and 16 inches around the dome (92 percentile).

A quick disclaimer - although I am clearly extremely late in posting these monthly pictures, I did actually take them on the 10th of each month, so it still counts ;)

Sarah is one month old already!  She's a sweet little bean, and a champion sleeper (Mama and Dada are thrilled).  We do lots of hanging in the Moby wrap and snuggling on the couch.  She's especially intrigued by her big sister, who is completely enamored with her as well!

We are family!

In the weeks surrounding Sarah's birth and Hannah's birthday, we had tons of help from our parents - a wonderful blessing.  Our girls are so loved by their Ma and Pa and Nana and Bapa!  A big thank you to all of them for making the trip - the cooking, cleaning, dog walking, and babysitting made all the difference in those early days of life with two littles.
