Sweet Home Chicago

This week we put Hannah's road trip skills to the test by driving out to Chicagoland to be with my family - my grandpa passed away after a long illness, and we were there to say goodbye to him for now, and to celebrate that we will see him in heaven one day.  He was devoted to his family, and that legacy was reflected in all of us coming together to remember his life.

We were also bringing the baby home for the first time - a poignant reminder that we were saying goodbye to one generation, but welcoming the next.  We had so much fun introducing her to family and friends, and she was the best baby - slept great in the new environment, got passed around to lots of loving arms, and survived the 14 hour drives like a champ.

Standing tall on Nana's lap

Giving G-Pop some smiles

Practicing little baby sit-ups

Enjoying quality time with new toys!
Mom got in on the playtime too :)

Great grandpa got to meet his 16th great grandchild - what a blessing!
She even got to meet a new friend - we love you Aubree!
We tried to get some pictures of Hannah in my dedication dress...

but she seemed more interested in eating it than posing in it.

Mom and daughter time
The puppy was pooped from the long drive

Showing off her new skill - chewing on whatever she can get her hands around!
Our little family :)

And our bigger family!
